How to Activate your Home Depot Credit Card
When you make a purchase at The Home Depot, most cashiers ask if you want to use the retailer’s credit card to complete the transaction. If you don’t have one, you’re invited to apply for an account.
If you took that opportunity, you might be wondering how to activate your Home Depot credit card.
There are two ways that you can accomplish this task. The Home Depot offers a dedicated activation telephone number and an online process to follow.
How to Activate Your Home Depot Credit Card Online
The Home Depot partners with Citi to provide credit lines to consumers. You can start the online activation process by going through the lender’s portal, which is accessible through this link.
You must verify your card information to continue with the activation process. On the left side of the screen, you’ll see entry fields for the following details.
- Card Number
- Name as it Appears on Your Card
- Security Code
- Last 4 Digits of the Primary Cardholder’s SSN.
The security code on Home Depot credit cards may be on the signature strip or printed as a CVV number on the bottom right corner.
Once you enter this information, click the orange “Verify” button at the page’s bottom. As you proceed through the rest of the process, answer the remaining questions when prompted to complete the activation.
How to Activate Your Home Depot Credit Card by Phone
If you prefer to activate your Home Depot card by phone, you can do so by calling the retailer’s customer service line at 1 (866) 875-5488.
You’ll go to a touch-based automated system automatically. If you press the * button twice, you can go to the speech-activated system.
If you choose the first option, select “1” to enter your credit card information. You can select “2” to enter your Social Security number to access your account.
The process is similar for the speech-enabled system. You would need to say, “Account number,” followed by your information.
Once you get past the initial prompts, you’ll get asked if you want to activate your card. Once you enter the number requested or say that you do, you’ll be ready to use it.
If any issues arise during the activation process, the automated system will switch you to an operator who can help you the rest of the way.
