Activate an MBNA Credit Card online
For over three decades, MBNA has been providing financial services to customers throughout Canada. As a member of the TD Bank Group, they offer a whole range of credit cards suited to different needs. (In fact, MBNA is the largest issuer of MasterCard credit cards in Canada.) Their offerings vary from business cards to travel credit cards, and even rewards cards that can be used to contribute to charitable causes.
If you’ve recently received your own MDNA credit card, you’ll need to activate it before use. Below, we’ve outlined all of the steps needed to get through the process.
Activate Your MBNA Card Online
For a quick and easy experience, begin by accessing the MBNA card activation site. You’ll then need to log into your online banking account to complete activation.
NOTE: If you’re not currently registered for online banking with MBNA, you’ll want to take this opportunity to sign up. Registration will also unlock account management options for future convenience.
Just follow the prompts once you’re logged in and activation will be complete within minutes.
Activating Your Card Over the Phone
MBNA also provides a phone activation option for those who can’t access the internet or just want to use their phone. While online activation is quicker, this does allow for a secondary option. Call MBNA customer support for help with phone activation: 1-888-876-6262. To help with verification, we recommend calling from the number that’s associated with the account.

Tips for New Credit Card Users:
- To decrease the likelihood of identity theft, sign the back of your card before using it.
- Be sure to read your cardholder agreement carefully.
Get the most out of your new card! Familiarize yourself with all of the card’s benefits and use them; sometimes perks like car rental insurance or roadside assistance are buried in the fine print of the cardholder agreement.
